What's new in Montessa
22 new features and 8 improvements since September.
November 2026
Maths you can touch
Fraction models, number lines, area grids, clocks and coordinate grids, drawn from numbers. Pupils shade, place, set and plot on them and are marked at once.
A library of ready-made lessons
Finished lessons from early years to secondary, with stage, subject and search filters and a page to try each one as a pupil would.
Spreadsheets and PDF worksheets
A spreadsheet with formulas and pivot tables that marks answers from the pupil's own sheet, and PDF worksheets pupils fill in online.
Chapters with gated progress
Courses open a chapter at a time, by Continue, by answering everything or by a pass mark, with timed tests handed in with no going back.
Ink, notebooks and voice
A stylus-first pen, letter tracing, a page-turning notebook, and reading practice that marks a child's reading word by word.
Homework marked on the page
Teachers mark on the pupil's own page with ticks, scores, stamps, saved phrases, spoken feedback and a red pen over photographed pages.
Portfolio growth and sharing
Marked work files into the portfolio with reflections and growth charts, shared by links that expire, and printed as a book.
The Interactive Studio
Presentations, lessons, quizzes and polls, run live with a join code or worked through at each pupil's own pace.
Live games in teams
Two to four teams balanced as they join, on the leaderboard, the end screen and the report.
- ImprovedCommunication
See who has answered, by name
Follow-up lists show each person's children, when they answered, what they decided and when they were last reminded.
- NewMontessa App
Admissions on the phone
Move families through the pipeline, enrol a child and check today's bus runs from the Montessa app.
Add to my calendar
Parents and teachers subscribe once and school events appear in their own calendar.
- ImprovedAttendance & Pickup
Safety notes on every class list
Allergy, medical, photo-consent and collection notes show as chips on the class roster, on the web and the phone.
- NewClassroom
One homework system on the web and the phone
Homework set by a teacher is handed in from the app and marked straight into the gradebook. Students and parents now have their own homework page.
Record payment and Void for manual payments
Log cash and bank transfers against a bill, and void one with a record if it was entered by mistake. Bills are now linked to each child.
- ImprovedAttendance & Pickup
One attendance alert per day
Parents get a single absence alert per child per day instead of one for every register.
- ImprovedMontessa App
Fairer limits for the phone app
Busy school Wi-Fi at drop-off no longer slows the app down for everyone on it.
The communication book
A shared notebook between teachers and families, showing what changed since you last read it, with class history and Android support.
- MNew
A home built for each role
Parents, students, teachers and finance staff each land on a home designed around their work, with menus that match what they can open.
- NewMontessa App
Cover photos for each child
Parents can choose their own cover photo for each of their children.
- ImprovedBilling & Fees
A Finance role that can do the billing
Finance staff can now open Billing and do everything it offers.
- NewMontessa App
Quick-add for teachers on Android
Teachers have a quick-add button and role-specific tab bars in the app.
October 2026
Fee structures and a discount engine
Set fee structures, bill a whole class at once, categorise items and apply discounts by rule.
September 2026
- NewMontessa App
Push notifications on Android
Messages and alerts arrive on families' phones the moment they are sent.
- ImprovedTransport
Every time on the school's clock
The app, the gate screens and the bus escort all show times in the school's time zone.
One account, more than one school
Parents and staff who belong to several schools switch between them in the app.
Preferred names
Montessa calls people by the name the school uses, not the first word of their legal name.
- NewTransport
Teachers on the bus home
A teacher can take a bus home with the children on it, as its escort for the day.
- ImprovedMontessa App
Push you can see into
Each school decides whether it sends push, and Montessa says where a notification is stuck instead of failing quietly.
